Time for the Book Fair!

This year, the fall book fair will not be held in the library, as it previously was. It will be held in one of our spare classrooms. It is easier to monitor this way, we can lock up the doors when no one is there, and the classes will also get their regular library time that week instead of missing out on it.
Therefore... we need LOTS of volunteers to man the fair! During times there aren't volunteers, the book fair will not be open - so we need lots of help!

If you are interested in signing up, please let me know what time you are available to work the fair.

Remember - IF YOU SIGN UP FOR A TIME - PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE THERE! I am scheduling classes according to volunteer times, so if you aren't there, the classes will be in a bind!

Welcome Back!

Welcome Back! It's hard to believe the summer is over, but we're ready to get into the swing of things this year! PATT has a lot of great events planned for the upcoming year.

Culver's Nights - This has been a lot of fun in the past - socializing with other Madison families, no cooking that night, and seeing how much fun he kids have while they're serving.

Flag Football - open to all Madison Elementary boys and girls. Games will run on Saturdays from Sept. 26 through Oct. 17.

Fall Family Fun Night - Will be held on Thursday, October 29. Check out the games, crafts and spooky hall!

Book Fairs - will be held in the fall, winter and spring. Watch for upcoming dates!

Santa Shop - A great time for kids to shop for their parents, siblings and other relatives.

Donuts With Santa - Make crafts and visit the "Big Guy!"

Daddy-Daughter Dance - is scheduled for Saturday, February 6. This is a great opportunity for your daughter to spend a fun evening with their male chaperone. Music, Dancing, Goodie Bags, Raffles, Prizes!

Mom/Son Fun Night - A fun-filled evening for moms and sons to compete against each other at some easy and not-so-easy games. Food, raffle prozes and lots of fun!

Lock-In - will be scheduled for the fall and spring. Parents get to enjoy a couple hours off while their kids do crafts, dance, eat and have lots of fun with their friends.

Skate Nights - usually held in the spring. Join other classmates at the Adrian Skatery for a fun night of rollerskating. Watch for information about theme of the evening!

And as always... PATT is looking for volunteers to help out with any of these activities. You can help out with all or just one of them. Volunteers get free registration for their child at most events.

End-of-the-year Picnic

Thank you to everyone who came out to PATT's 1st end-of-the-year picnic. We had a GREAT turnout, GREAT weather, and GREAT food!!! This was our first one, so we really didn't know what to expect... Wow! Hopefully next year we can build on this for a really great event.
Have a happy summer!

School Store coming soon...

Beginning in the fall of the 2009-10 school year, Madison Elementary will have its own school store! This has been in talks for quite a while and we've finally gotten some items in and more ordered.
Initially, we will offer notebooks, folders, pencils, pens, erasers, pencil bags, t-shirts and hats - all imprinted with Madison Trojans. We will have a selection of t-shirts on hand (ranging in size from youth small to adult XL), and the ability to order any more we need, with a 2-week delivery time.
Eventually we will add items, such as keychains, license plates, bumper stickers - and more!

So stop by the elementary library during the open house in the fall and stock up on your Madison school supplies!

Keep collecting over the summer!

Madison PATT currently collects Boxtops for Education and Campbell's Labels for Education. I recently sent in a box of boxtops and we'll receive a check for approximately $600 - all for doing practically nothing! So remember to keep clipping your boxtops over the summer and turn them in at the beginning of the school year!

We've also subscribed to a program that lets us turn in used printer cartridges and cell phones for profit. So if you have either of those and would like to recycle them with us, just drop them off at school!

Upcoming Events...

The end of the school year is fast-approaching and we have a couple events coming up!

Buy-One, Get-One-FREE Book Fair - will be held Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, May 13-15 in the elementary library. Everything is included in this sale! Stop by for some great deals on summer reading material! Book fair hours are:
Wednesday: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Thursday: 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Madison Elementary Skate Night - will be held Thursday, May 21 at the Adrian Skatery. Registration forms will come home with your kids this coming week. Pre-registration is recommended. Cost is $6 and includes skate rental. If your child would like to upgrade to roller blades, they may bring the extra money with them that evening. Parents signing the waiver do not have to stay at the Skatery with their child.

End-of-the-Year Family Picnic - will be held on Tuesday, June 9 from 6-8 p.m. at the elementary playground/picnic pavilion. This is a great time to mingle with other families and relax and have fun. PATT will provide hot dogs, plates/silverware, orange drink/water and popsicles.
Families are asked to bring their lawn chairs/blankets and a dish to pass. Families with children in DK/Kdg/1st/2nd grade should bring a dessert or cookies, and families with children in grades 3-4-5 should bring a side dish or chips. If you have children in each of these grade groups, please only bring one dish to pass.

Elementary Lock In

The Spring Lock-In will take place next Friday, April 24 from 6-9 p.m. in the elementary commons/new gym.

Drop the kids off for a few hours for only $5 per child. They can enjoy dancing, face painting, button making, games in the gym... and lots of fun!

Refreshments are also available at an additional charge. Please let your child know they are responsible for holding their own money, so be careful not to lose it!

Registation forms will go out today (Friday) or by Monday at the latest. They should be turned back in by Thursday at 3 p.m. We will allow registrations at the door, but pre-registrations are appreciated!

Hope to see all the kids there! It's a great night!

Family Reading Night...rescheduled

As you know, we had to postpone Family Reading Night this week. Our guest author had some medical emergencies and had to cancel her trip to Michigan.

Well, we've rescheduled the events to Monday, April 20, from 6-8 p.m. So be sure to come to Madison Elementary for a fun family night! Activities include (but are not limited to!) Book Bingo, Mad Libs, Book Trivia, a Book Walk, bookmark making stations, reading under the stars (complete with a campsite), dramatic play, book swap, and tons of prizes and give-aways! After all that you'll get to be part of a presentation by our children's author Sandra Philipson and her dogs, Max, Tak & Trini.

So don't miss out on a great night! You and your kids will love it!

Mom/Son Fun Night

THANK YOU to everyone who made this year's Mom/Son Fun Night a great success. A special thank you to our chairperson Karri Tarsha, who worked incredibly hard on this event for us, getting tons of great prize donations, designing a really cool t-shirt, and putting in tons of hours to make this all come together!

We had approximately 80 boys and their chaperones attend Saturday night's event. There were many different prize winners, with Jalen Jones winning the grand prize of 4 passes and a gift card to Splash Universe in Dundee. We also had many donated prizes for the moms this year too!

Thank you to Mary Anschuetz for taking care of all games and setting up the gym for us! And we couldn't have done it without the dad voulnteers, so moms could actually go play with their boys.

Welcome...

I'm attempting to begin this blog as a way to keep us all linked with upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, photos, etc... of PATT activities. If you would like to be taken off the list to receive updates for PATT, please feel free to email me and I will remove your email address.

We have many different activities coming up, and as you know, these activities require the work of many different volunteers, in many different capacities. I'll list some of the events as they come up and you may log in to post what you'd like to help out with. This will keep others posted as well, as to what is still open.

Again, that you for all you do to help us make a positive impact on the students of the Madison community!
